How to Find Hope When Times Are Tough

Life has its ups and downs, and this is true no matter who you are or how successful you are. Even though we all know that everyone else on Earth experiences tough times, it’s easy to feel like you’re sealed off from the rest of humanity when things are at their worst. Whether the difficulty is financial, emotional, or medical in nature, here are some tips on how you can find hope and persevere when you find that things in your life are going wrong.

Look Above

You can almost hear God saying “don’t forget me!” when you’re stuck in a low point. In fact, you can hear him: in the Bible. Spend some time in the Word, and if you’ve been missing church services, you might find that the spiritual refreshment you gain on Sundays may just be the thing you need to pull you out of the darkness. Never stop believing that God loves you and has a plan for you: that alone can bring hope unlike anything else.

Count Your Blessings

When life isn’t going your way, it’s easy to think that everything is wrong with your life and is contributing to your negative feelings. However, this is fortunately hardly ever the case. If you have good friends, cherish them and allow them to shower you with their love. If you have good health, that’s a huge blessing too and should be celebrated! If you have a pet, or a good job, or anything else that brings you joy, don’t ever forget to be thankful for it. There is always a positive; work hard to find it.

Keep Going

The Winston Churchill quote “if you’re going through hell, keep going” is frequently cited, but it’s still extremely relevant because it’s really good advice! The absolute worst thing you can do when you’re feeling down or struggling is to sit still and feel sorry for yourself. A good place to start to accomplish this is to get out of the house and stay active, even if it’s just a walk around the block. It really makes a difference! Soon enough, the spark of hope will reveal itself to you.
